By default the pitch is preserved (this is time-stretching), so a sped-up voice still sounds like the same person rather than a chipmunk. That's what you want for speeding up a voice message or lecture, tightening a voice-over to fit a time slot, or slowing a phrase down to learn it. Untick "Keep original pitch" if you want the classic effect where pitch moves along with speed.
Pitch-preserving speed change is processed as mono and is limited to files of about 8 minutes; for something longer, turn off pitch preservation, or split the file with the trim tool.
