Split audio by silence online for free with VoxCraft. Upload a long recording and the tool cuts it into separate clips at every quiet gap — useful when you've recorded several takes in one file, an interview with natural pauses, or a voice note with several topics.
You control what counts as a split: how long a pause has to last, and how quiet it has to be. A long minimum silence (around a second) splits only at real breaks between sections; a short one splits at every breath. That makes it practical for separating podcast segments, breaking an audiobook read into chapters, or finding the best of five takes of the same line.
Results come back as separate clips you download individually, up to 20 parts per run. If a recording has constant background noise, the gaps never get quiet enough to count as silence — run noise reduction first and the splits become much cleaner.

- If you get too many tiny clips, raise Min silence (e.g. 800–1200 ms).
- If it won't split, lower the silence threshold (more negative = treats more of the file as sound).
- Room noise can prevent clean splits — denoise first if needed.

How do I split an MP3 at silence?
Upload the file, set the minimum pause length and the silence threshold, then tap Split. Each stretch of sound between pauses becomes its own clip.
What settings should I start with?
A minimum silence of about 500–800 ms and the default threshold work for most speech. Raise the minimum for fewer, longer clips; lower it to split at shorter pauses.
Why did it return only one file?
Either there were no pauses long and quiet enough to count, or background noise kept the gaps from getting quiet. Lower the minimum silence length, or denoise the file first.
What's the part limit?
